Testing Separation Processes under Real-Life Conditions: How TRENNSO-TECHNIK® Test Centers Accelerate the Development of Efficient Solutions

In the recycling and bulk materials industries, tailor-made separation solutions are key to efficient, economical, and sustainable processes. But how can companies ensure in advance that a specific separation plant is suitable for their material, product, and objectives?

TRENNSO-TECHNIK® has the answer: testing – in its in-house test center.
This medium-sized, family-run company based in Weißenhorn, Bavaria, has operated a state-of-the-art test center since 2016, where customers can analyze and test the separation behavior of their materials under realistic conditions. Spanning approximately 1,000 square meters, the facility houses a complete range of processing modules: from material conveying, crushing, and air separation to screening and density separation using separation tables.

From trial to full-scale plant: engineering with expertise
A major advantage for customers: insights gained in the test center feed directly into the development of complete separation plants. TRENNSO-TECHNIK® not only supplies individual machines but also delivers fully customized turnkey systems – from initial feasibility studies and process design through to commissioning. Each system is individually engineered to match the specific material properties, throughput requirements, and site conditions. This integrated approach reduces interfaces, shortens project timelines, and results in precisely aligned processes – field-tested, technically sound, and cost-effective.

Customer focus starts with a trial
Whether recovering non-ferrous metals from WEEE, sorting post-consumer plastics, or removing contaminants from bulk materials of all kinds – it is crucial to understand the best possible separation process in advance. That is exactly where the TRENNSO-TECHNIK® test center comes into play.

Every trial is planned, executed, and evaluated individually – either on-site with the customer or remotely. The test material is processed using original TRENNSO-TECHNIK® equipment. The results are reliable, meaningful, and directly transferable to industrial-scale operations.

The test center also plays a vital role in internal project development:

The project engineers use it intensively to gain hands-on experience with specific materials and their separation behavior. These findings are directly incorporated into plant design and serve as a valuable foundation for developing efficient, economical, and precisely tailored systems.

Transparency, reliability and time savings for the customer
One of the test center’s most important advantages lies in risk reduction: investment decisions can be based on solid trial data. Customers benefit from:

  • Personalized advice from experienced process engineers
  • Practical trials with original equipment
  • Measurable results: separation quality, throughput, energy use and product yield
  • Comprehensive documentation to support internal decision-making
  • Reduced risk of incorrect sizing or over dimensioned systems

“Our test center is not a showroom – it’s a development lab,” the TRENNSO-TECHNIK® management team emphasizes. “We want our customers to know exactly what to expect – with a clear focus on process reliability and economic viability.”

International reach: new UK test center operational
Since December 2023, TRENNSO-TECHNIK® has operated an additional test center in the United Kingdom. In cooperation with a long-standing partner, a fully equipped facility has been established in Llandow, South Wales – identical in function to the German test site.

UK-based customers can test their materials and assess process behavior locally – quickly, easily, and without long-distance logistics. Additionally, machines and modules can be hired for temporary integration into existing systems, allowing customers to solve specific challenges directly on-site.

A real asset for international projects
Especially in international projects – such as WEEE recycling, plastics recovery, or construction materials processing – the cross-border availability of testing facilities offers major benefits. Equipment doesn’t need to be purchased “blind”; instead, it undergoes a validated evaluation process. This reduces risk, increases planning certainty, and ensures reliable performance from day one.

Conclusion: Testing builds confidence – and delivers results
TRENNSO-TECHNIK® test centers are far more than trial facilities – they are central to the development of efficient separation solutions, precisely tailored to the needs of each customer. They accelerate project timelines, enhance process reliability and provide a robust foundation for sound investment decisions – in Germany, the UK and beyond.
