GREEN ENERGY EXPO & ROMENVIROTEC 2026 Attracted over 15,000 Visitors

GREEN ENERGY EXPO & ROMENVIROTEC 2026, Romania’s leading trade platform for technologies dedicated to sustainable communities, concluded its third edition with strong results confirming the event’s rapid growth: more than 15,000 visitors, 250 exhibiting companies, double the exhibition space compared to last year, and five times more events organized by public institutions and industry bodies during the fair.

Described by exhibitors, partners and visitors as “an outstanding edition” and “an excellent edition”, this year’s event, held on March 3–5 at ROMEXPO, brought together companies, central and local authorities, experts and industry representatives in a format that combined technology, institutional dialogue and tangible business opportunities.

The event opened with a message from the President of Romania, Nicuşor Dan, followed by official addresses from Deputy Prime Minister Tánczos Barna; Diana Buzoianu, Minister of Environment, Water and Forests; Lia Olguţa Vasilescu, President of the Association of Romanian Municipalities; Mihaela Frăsineanu, State Counsellor within the Prime Minister’s Chancellery; László Borbély, State Counsellor at the Department for Sustainable Development; Grigore Stratulat, State Secretary at the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Moldova; Irinel Ionel Scrioşteanu, State Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure; and Gabriel Traian Ghilea, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration. Their presence reaffirmed the strategic role of GREEN ENERGY EXPO & ROMENVIROTEC in Romania’s and the region’s sustainable development agenda.

One of the key moments of the 2026 edition was the official exhibition tour, which began at the stand of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests. Nine agencies under the ministry’s authority were present throughout the event, engaging directly with exhibitors and visitors. Minister Diana Buzoianu also attended presentations of the showcased technologies and welcomed a delegation of 100 mayors from the Republic of Moldova, who attended the fair for exchanges of experience and best practices.

The official tour also included the stand of the Association of Romanian Municipalities and the stand of the Department for Sustainable Development, reinforcing the message of a strong partnership between public administration, local authorities and the business community in building sustainable cities.

The 2026 edition also marked the launch of the “City of the Future” concept, an experiential space designed as a sustainability boulevard. Visitors were able to explore an integrated showcase featuring more than 2,500 plants, smart lighting systems, intelligent pedestrian crossings, electric vehicle charging stations, waste and water management technologies, and solutions for urban energy efficiency.

The institutional component also played a central role. Within the Institutional Agora, ministries, government institutions, embassies, city halls and county councils presented projects and strategies dedicated to the development of sustainable cities through 2050.

Another new element of the 2026 edition was the introduction of six dedicated dialogue areas for institutions, local authorities and industry. These spaces hosted dozens of presentations and practical debates, where public sector experts presented concrete programs and solutions and answered questions from participants.

At the same time, the 250 exhibiting companies showcased state-of-the-art technologies and solutions for renewable energy, smart city development, waste and water management, energy efficiency and the circular economy. Beyond knowledge exchange, several companies reported contracts and sales concluded directly during the fair, underlining the event’s strong business dimension.

Compared to the 2025 edition, Green Energy Expo – Romenvirotec 2026 recorded a doubling in the number of exhibitors, a doubling of exhibition space and a fivefold increase in the number of events organized by relevant public institutions and industry organizations.

The 2027 edition will take place on March 2–4 at ROMEXPO, Bucharest.
